16 July 2020, Hindustan times reported that in the wake of Rajput’s suicide. “A massive online campaign fuelled by conspiracy theories has been demanding a (CBI) investigation into the matter.” Rhea Chakraborty, Rajput’s maternal uncle and an online campaign also demanded the same.
On 17 July, Maharashtra Home Minister Deshmukh denied a CBI probe was required.
